Chiropractic focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders related to the neuromusculo-skeletal system (or in other words the muscles, joints and nerves in your body). Chiropractors provide manual therapy to promote health, alleviate pain, and improve overall quality of life.
Chiropractors use a combination of treatments to suit your individual needs. The chiropractic adjustment (also known as "manipulation") is the most common form of manual therapy delivered by a chiropractor. This involves the application of a high velocity, low amplitude thrust to a vertebra or joint with abnormal movement patterns. The objective is to restore range of motion, reduce muscle and nerve irritability, and improve function. Other forms of treatment include mobilizations, soft tissue therapy, acupuncture, and exercise and rehabilitation.
